Training and Registration
The Oil Firing Technical Association was launched in April 1991 to construct a framework within which oil firing in the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland could operate with a greater degree of technical expertise and efficiency. One of its first priorities was to set up a system of training and registration for Technicians engaged in commissioning, servicing, installation with oil firing equipment.

If you are a NEW registrant in GB you can now register online via http://www.oftec.org/application/. If you are not in GB, this facility will hopefully be available by the end of the year, in the meantime if you reside anywhere in Ireland please go to http://www.oftec.co.uk/what-do-i-do-ireland.htm to download a form. For all other NEW registrants not resident in GB please go to http://www.oftec.co.uk/what-do-i-do.htm to download a form.
OFTEC offer a wide range of courses for oil firing technicians. OFTEC training and registration are recognised as professional standards throughout the industry.
OFTEC tests and approves oil-firing equipment, and represents the industry in discussions with regulatory agencies. OFTEC’s Codes of Practice set standards for the industry, and are followed by its Members and Registered Technicians.
Unvented Hot Water Systems
Installers registered with the OFTEC Competent Persons Scheme for oil work can extend their scope of Registration to include unvented hot water systems installation and commissioning at a reduced price of £100 + VAT for five years. To download a form click here...
Installers not on the OFTEC Competent Persons Scheme for oil work can register just for unvented hot water systems at a cost of £240 + VAt per year. They will then be able to notify their installation and commissioning works through OFTEC at £2.50 oer online notification. to download a form click here...
