OFTEC's technical team is expanding!
OFTEC's technical team provides support to the off-grid heating industry and OFTEC's registered technicians. This involves responding to enquiries by phone and email from homeowners and technicians. Our technical team also plays a crucial role in the production and maintenance of technical publications and standards for the liquid fuel heating industry and works closely with the marketing department to keep technicians and members informed of changes to building regulations.
From time to time the team is also involved in delivering consultancy services or attending external industry meetings. Part of OFTEC's work involves helping to influence government policy as well as working to improve standards in the off-grid heating industry. The technical team plays a vital role in this activity.
Our technical team attends regular training courses to ensure their skills and knowledge are kept up to date.
No two days are the same and it's a great way to use the skills acquired whilst working as a heating technician, without physically being 'on the tools'.
We are currently seeking to expand the team with the following roles:
Technical Supervisor or Manager (DOE)
The successful candidate will oversee the work of the department, including managing a small team of technical officers. You will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills as well as an in-depth knowledge of domestic oil heating. Hands-on experience of installing and servicing heating systems would definitely be an advantage – although the role will be office based! Full training will be given in the current building regulations relating to oil, solid fuel and renewable heating systems.
As part of a small team, you will be responding to enquiries from homeowners and technicians. You'll need to be a real team player with great communication skills so that you can clearly explain technical issues over the phone. Hands-on experience of installing and servicing heating systems would definitely be an advantage – although the role will be office based!
Full training will be given in the current building regulations relating to oil, solid fuel and renewable heating systems.
